How does oral medication for acne know how to clear up the area?

Posted by: admin  :  Category: Acne

I have a minor acne problem on my chin and the corner of mouth. I recently went to the dermatologist to find out how to get rid of it. She prescribed oral medication that treats acne. My question is how does the oral medicine know where the acne is and how does it clear it up? I guess I’m just really skeptical about this whole thing. Thanks!

The medicines are antibiotics. They get rid of all the bad bacteria in your body. This will also get rid of Acne because acne is caused by bacteria.

What are the affects of skin cancer if it goes untreated?

Posted by: admin  :  Category: Skin Cancer

I just found out that i may have Skin Cancer, if I don’t get any treatment for it what will happen?

Well the speed and such depends on what type.

But basically it will continue to grow. At some point, it will start to spread. Then those too will grow and this will continue until it kills you.

How do I approach a very attractive girl who works in the cosmetics department at Macy’s?

Posted by: admin  :  Category: Cosmetics

I was at the mall doing some holiday shopping for my sisters and I saw this very attractive girl at MAC Cosmetics. I’ve seen her there a couple of times and now I want to make a move. However, everytime I see her there, she’s busy putting Makeup on someone or helping out other customers.

try the direct one:

wait in line and when she gets to you tell her that you think she’s gorgeous and will she grab a coffee with you during her break.

What brand of vegan cosmetics do you recommend?

Posted by: admin  :  Category: Cosmetics

All my makeup is getting old and I want to replace it. I prefer to spend $50-75, but I’d go up to $100 if necessary. I usually wear mascara, eye liner, eye shadow, blush, lightly tinted lip balm and powder/foundation (the all-in-one kind in a compact). My skin is somewhat oily and Acne-prone if that’s important. I prefer to hear from people who actually use vegan cosmetics, but any suitable answers would be great. Thanks in advance!

I get all of my cosmetics from www.everydayminerals.com. If you’ve never used mineral makeup before then it takes some getting used to but once you get the hang of it, you’ll love it. They’re also bringing out a compact pressed foundation within the next week so you may prefere that to the powder they have at the moment. I used to used the compacts but am used to the powders and prefere them now. Their products are all natural and use a minimum number of ingredients which your skin will appreciate. It’s good enough for your skin that you can even wear it overnight (I don’t though). It’s also relatively cheap, especially if you go for a custom kit. They also do a free sample pack so go for that first if you don’t want to pay for something you’re not sure of. Their products aren’t tested on animals and the only non vegan product I’ve found on there is the soap which has honey in.

I forgot to mention… make sure you get a synthetic brush as some of them are made of animal hair. They’re thinking of changing them all to synthetic though so if you want, you could send them a quick email saying you would prefere they do. And for oily skin… go for the matte or intensive foundation and finishing dust… they really help in absorbing oil and reducing shine

What drugstore makeup look would look best on a thirteen year old?

Posted by: admin  :  Category: Makeup

I am only thirteen and i need a makeup look using only cheap drugstore makeup?

Oh and i live in America so please don’t put things that aren’t sold here.

cheap makeup can look as good as expensive makeup.
Maybelline, Covergirl, Revlon…they are all in the aisles.
I’m very versatile with my makeup.
I really like covergirl mascara because it makes my lashes look amazing.
Maybelline powder lasts well for me.
Be sure to know what goes with what.
I don’t know your skin type, so If you have very oily skin then makeup is always a problem because your makeup might melt and you have to use those blotting sheets to get the oil off your face.
If you have normal skin then you are lucky.
good luck!

How do I get into the makeup/special makeup effects for Hollywood industry?

Posted by: admin  :  Category: Makeup

I am currently going to school for cosmetology and have been working on makeup as my specialty. I thought that going into the Hollywood world for makeup and or special effects makeup would be a dream job. Does anybody have any tips, experience or advice on how to prepare myself and or get my foot in the door?

Hello, Beads

I have written just such an article:
http://www.learnprostheticMakeup.com/How_can_I_get_into_makeup_effects.pdf

I work as a makeup effects artist in the UK and have a website with free articles for you to view/download here:

http://www.learnprostheticmakeup.com/page9.htm

Please be aware that it is competitive industry (name one that isn’t) but a broad skill base means there are a number of avenues to pursue.

A great many ‘Hollywood’ films are made in places other than Hollywood. In the UK, I have been fortunate enough to work on The Mummy, Saving Private Ryan, Gladiator-all full of UK crew and extras. European locations are often used (Prague and Budapest were popular) and Morocco is often used for desert locations so it may be necessary to travel if you get involved in that area.

Many successful makeup effects artists did not go through conventional makeup schooling-rather they misspent their youth making monsters for fun and gradually honed their skills over time. They were doing it for fun, making mistakes and enjoying it long before it paid their bills.

Most people are freelance, as the nature of the work arrives in peaks and troughs so you’ll need to sustain yourself with your earnings while the going is good, and accept there will be quiet times of the year.

A lot of prosthetic work takes place in a workshop environment rather than the set, which is a completely different world. It is messy, smelly and often long hours-not at all glamorous. But if you like sculpting, painting and making monsters then it should be your natural habitat!

Many makeup artists will be expected to do some ’special effects’ such as straightforward casualty makeup, illnesses and subtle aging. Specialist makeup effects departments step in when the skills needed are more extensive.

If you can’t find what you want near you, I suggest getting a good book, and spending the money on some kit and practice. Good books include:

* Character Makeup by Make-up Designery (ISBN-13: 978-0974950006)
* Special Make-Up Effects by Vincent Kehoe
* Special Makeup Effects for Stage & Screen: Making and Applying Prosthetics by Todd Debreceni
* Stage Makeup by Richard Corson

Some courses can be expensive ways to learn unless you are totally set on doing it as part of a career move. The best teaching will come from those who make their living from it, and naturally there will be emphasis on film quality work.

I also teach in the UK, and a lot of people from all over the world travel to learn. If you were successful in the trade, you would most likely need to travel all over the world when you work, so if you don’t like travel or working away from home, you may limit what work you can do.

Family commitments often hold people back in this way, and a lot of good artists who start early in their lives work all over don’t settle down.

You may not be able to travel to learn, but know that your competition will-it is a very competitive industry if you want to make a career out of it.

Check http://makeupmag.com/faqmain/. They also host trade shows (check http://www.makeupartistshow.com/) It is worth going, so you can meet and speak to people face to face about your intentions. It is great meeting like minded souls, and most of the big schools are there giving demos and often have show offers and discounts.

Whoever you go with, check them out online, see if anyone has anything bad to say about them. If you want a career in film and TV I also suggest you run the tutors name through http://www.imdb.com/, and see what credits they have to their name. Many teach it although they haven’t actually done it themselves in industry.

Kind regards
Stuart
