Alternative Medicine?
Hi,
I have to do a presentation on the CONS of alternative medicine and I was just wondering if any one knows of any good videos about the subject and how Alternative Medicine does not really work. Thank you very much, any help would be appreciated.
at suggested sites to disprove AltMed you will find info provided by an unlicensed psychiatrist who posts his worthless opinions.
some Con to Altmed are,
few, if any double-blind crossover studies. these do not prove much for any substance except the researched product does have an effect on humans. those studies gave us Vioxx and Reglan and many other poisons…but "science" said they were good for us!!

More than a 100,000 die each year from properly prescribed medications (Recent Time mag article)
16,000 die each year from arthritis durgs
and it is truly sad when a child dies from any cause….to bad the judicial system believes it belongs in health care….a real horrorp>

I’m not sure how much you’re going to find. This primary health care in the US hurts as many people as it helps. I don’t see how alternative medicine could be worse.

Here’s a few good websites to get you started. The problem with Alt Med is it includes so many different things; from the plausible (herbal) to completely ridiculous (homeopathy). The last time I counted a few years ago, there were over 600 different practices under the umbrella of "alternative medicine", so no doubt it is much higher now, but who has the time to count.
I am familiar with some branches of sCAM in a lot of detail, and other I have to take more of a generic approach to their philosophy rather than get into specifics. It’s a huge topic, and there’s a ton of information to be found.

Fretochose – the question is not about conventional medicine, stay on topic. Besides your figures say nothing about the alleged efficacy of alt meds.

both allopathic medicine and alternative medicine have their successes and failures. The pro of alternative medicine is that in most cases the treatments are gentler on the human body and cause far less side effects or injury. Alt medicine has herbs, dietary supplements lifestyle changes and hundreds of other safer modalities at its disposal. An aware experienced health consumer gets a feel about which type of healing to try. I use alternative medicine most of the time with much success but if I had a fever of 104( for example) I would want a course of antibiotic because it works immediately where the herb feverfew and tepid baths may allow the infection to overwhelm my immune system. Then I would go back to nature.
