How to Keep Your Make-up Bag Filled Only With the Items You Really Need

Posted by: admin  :  Category: Makeup

Applying make-up doesn’t need to be a difficult, expensive or time consuming task.  If you follow a few simple tips, you can achieve a great look from a minimum of cosmetics, in a short space of time.

One factor often overlooked when talking about make-up is a good skin care routine.  For maximum benefit you should cleanse, tone and moisturise morning and evening without fail.  Leaving stale make-up on overnight can cause premature ageing.  During the day it is important to protect your face from the sun even in the winter.  If you want to save time, buy a moisturiser that contains an SPF of at least 15. If not apply a sun cream after you have moisturised.

Once you have a clean face, apply skin adjuster to areas that need attention, for example under the eyes with a neutral adjuster or red cheeks can be “calmed” with a mint adjuster.  Use a very small amount of concealer to cover any blemishes.  It may also be an idea to put an eye base on your eyelids to even up skin tone and moisturise this delicate area.

Now your face is ready for foundation.  For a natural look, it is important to choose a foundation as close to your skin colour as possible and apply with a damp sponge, paying particular attention to the middle part of your face around the nose area.  Set with loose powder and apply blusher on your cheeks.  Depending on the shape of your face, you can use blusher to make the most of your features.

Next apply eyeliner in a colour that suits you, under your lash line from the outside in as far as roughly two thirds along, towards your nose.  Apply a light colour eye shadow to the whole of your eye lid and then accentuate the outside corner with a darker shade and blend. Apply mascara carefully in a suitable colour.

Finally apply a lip base to your lips to moisturise and give your lipstick more staying power, outline with a pencil and fill in with your favourite lipstick, ensuring it suits your colouring.

For the evening go a shade darker with the lips, eyes and blusher.

To summarise your make-up bag should contain: one foundation, one loose powder, skin adjuster, eye base, two eye pencils, four eye shadows, one mascara, two blushers, one lips base, one lip pencil and two lipsticks.

Make sure the colours you use are suited to your colouring.  You do not need to try and match what you are wearingand it shouldn’t take you more than ten minutes to apply your make-up.  If you find yourself short of time you can cut corners and still look great.  Apply  a tinted moisturiser, an eyeliner in a flattering colour, mascara and a sweep of lipstick or gloss and away you go, all in a matter of minutes.

Smooth Flawless Looking Skin Using Mineral Makeup

Posted by: admin  :  Category: Makeup

Brush away blemishes using mineral makeup. All natural mineral makeup evens out blotchy skin tones using a surprisingly light application. The natural ingredients in mineral Makeup, such as zinc oxide, sooth your skin and provide great coverage. For your skin to look it’s best, mineral makeup like all foundations must be applied carefully.

Prepare your skin well and your complexion will look great all day. Regardless of your skin type you should look for a gentle cleanser, as well as a toner to regulate the ph of the skin and diminish the look of pores, and a moisture rich lotion or primer. Make sure your primer or moisturizer is completely dry before applying your foundation.

A good sunscreen is always a must even if you are not out in the sun much. Even limited exposure can cause sun damage , which leads to premature aging. Titanium dioxide and zinc oxide are two common ingredients in mineral makeup that are excellent natural sunscreens. Skin also needs to be exfoliated to keep the pores clear and unclogged, but harsh exfoliates should be avoided. Milder, oatmeal-based facial scrubs can help unplug the oily pores, and are much kinder to sensitive skin. Without these basic cleansing actions, skin tone becomes dull and uneven and cannot protect itself against the environmental stress it encounters everyday.

Mineral concealer is ideal for acne and rosacea sufferers as it provides complete coverage of blemishes at the same time helping to heal and calm inflammations with the high levels of zinc oxide. Instead of covering spots or acne with a liquid oil concealer that can further clog your pores, dab on an anti-acne formula and use a mineral powder concealer to hide acne and to absorb excess oil.

If you prepare your skin properly first, your mineral makeup will glide on and give you flawless coverage while protecting your skin.

Four Makeup Blunders you Should Avoid

Posted by: admin  :  Category: Makeup

Makeup, like fashion, evolves with time. What may have been in style in the 90’s may no longer be considered as appropriate and fashionable in this decade. Although retro styles, like the revival of leggings and polka dots, may prop up once in a while, you still want to avoid an outdated look.

To get on the loop of what is not hot, continue reading to learn the common makeup faux pas you need to avoid by all means. Pay attention.

Incorrect Foundation Hue

Picking the right color of foundation to suit your skin tone is of utmost importance. If you pick a color that is too light for you, you will either look like a porcelain doll or a clown. On the other hand, if the shade is too dark for you, you will look like a burnt gingerbread man.

If you want to know what color suits you best, you need to test it on your skin, preferably on your face. It is not ok to test it on the back of your hand because there is a big chance that the tone of your face is not similar to that of your hand. The best place to test if the foundation shade is right for you is by applying it on your jawline under natural light. If you have to, go far out from the makeup counter lights and check if the color truly matches your complexion.

Noticeable Blush Stripes

If you want to look like you stepped out of a music video from the 80s, then by all means do not blend your blush and ensure that a streak of makeup can be prominently seen from your cheeks to your ears. However, if you want to appear chic and updated, you should prefer a more natural look.

Instead of sweeping a thick red or dark brown blush on your cheeks, you should use rose or copper blush. Furthermore, it would be best to barely dust the apples of your cheek with some blush while bringing the brushstrokes up towards your ear. Lastly, don’t forget to blend your blush so as to avoid the dreaded blush stripe.

Penciled-In Eyebrows

Not so long ago, thin eyebrows were to die for. It was not surprising to see that even teen stars in Hollywood back then were sporting super thin brows. However, the movie and television industry probably realized that very thin eyebrows are not very attractive, unless a woman wants to look older than her real age. You see, thinning eyebrows is actually a sign of aging.

If you have naturally thin eyebrows or you are already showing some signs of becoming old, then it is all right to color your arches with makeup. Just make sure that you follow the arch of your brows with your pencil and after drawing the line, smudge your eyebrows a little bit with a brush so that the lines won’t look as if your two-year-old daughter drew them up with her lead pencil.

Partially Lined Eyes

Another makeup blunder that has persisted through the years is the partial lining of the eyes. This practice is not only out-of-date but it also defeats the purpose of the eyeliner. The reason why women put a line on their eyes in the first place is to enhance the eyes and give them more emphasis. Partial lining, whether on the top or bottom eyelids, will make your eyes look smaller.

It is important to note that eyeliners are easy to smudge. Thus, you need to be sure that your liner is waterproof or of good quality. You do not want to attend an important meeting with dark circles around your eyes. Incidentally, if the dark circles are caused by sleep deprivation or stress, then you need to do a more proactive approach. Use a concealer to minimize the dark appearances or deal with the problem by using eye gels and creams; having raccoon eyes are definitely unflattering. One eye cream that is effective in eliminating such problem is Eyevive. Learn more about the product by visiting http://www.eyevive.com/.

What hair/makeup should I use for my 8th grade graduation?

Posted by: admin  :  Category: Makeup

Ok so I have pretty pale skin and blue eyes. My hair is normally pretty straight but semi-wavy. My hair is a light brown with natural (not dyed) golden blonde highlights. My dress is floral with a lot of different colors but it is mostly blue with splashes of pink, orange, etc. My shoes are a light tan color. I would like some ideas for good hair/Makeup looks that would look good with all this. I do wanna wear enough makeup so that it is noticeable that I am wearing some!

For your hair, I would curl it with loose curls and then put it half up half down and bump it but jut a little bit. And for your make-up I would use brown eyeliner and just trace your eyelashes and for mascara, make them look full and long so you can see them from a little distance. Then for your eye shadow, do the smokey eye with probably a purplish pink and white but make sure than it’s shimmery eye shadow… I think that would look really good!

Are Herbal Skin Care and Makeup Compatible?

Posted by: admin  :  Category: Makeup

I’ve got a confession to make.

I threw out all my Cosmetics months ago. Okay, I still have lipstick. But all that other stuff I was putting on my face every morning is gone. Why such a drastic move? Well, I recently began looking for an herbal Skin Care line for anti-aging. I’m in my mid-thirties now and, truthfully, I feel like my face is falling apart every time I look in the mirror. It worries me so much.

So, anyway, I was doing some research on herbal treatment for the skin. You know, just trying to find out which herbs were the most effective, which ingredients to look for on the label. And I came across an article about the widespread use of harmful chemical ingredients in herbal skin products.

There’s a whole list of them.

I copied down a few of them on a post-it and went into my bathroom. I just wanted to see if any of these toxic ingredients were in my makeup. Oh my god. I couldn’t believe it. Every label I looked at, sure enough, there were 3 or 4. I had been using these for years, putting this gunk on my face.

But, even knowing that my makeup contained all these bad chemicals, it was still really hard to toss it all in the wastebasket. It took me all weekend to do it. What would people think of me without makeup?

Well, I went to work that Monday morning. I could tell that the other women in the office noticed, but the men seemed oblivious. And I’ve had a few dates since and one guy really liked my natural look. He said it was refreshing.

For a while there, I wasn’t using makeup or an herbal treatment for the skin.

It just didn’t make sense to keep using my makeup. I was looking for an anti-aging herbal treatment for the skin. How could I expect to see results if I kept exposing my skin to harmful chemicals? I wanted to put only natural substances on my skin and let my skin be rejuvenated.

Anyway, now I’m using an herbal skin care products line and I’m very happy with it. It was tough finding it though; a lot of skin creams labeled “herbal” still contain those damaging synthetic chemicals. At my website, I go over all those bad ingredients, so you’ll know what to watch out for. I also discuss the most effective ingredients in herbal skin care.

How do I keep my makeup from coming off?

Posted by: admin  :  Category: Makeup

I recently got bare minerals makeup (8 piece kit). I’ve worn it once or twice. Whenever I get home after wearing it, it seems like it’s already worn off. I have oily skin and when the makeup wears off, my face is shiny once again.

I have graduation this Wednesday. I’ll be in an air conditioned church for an hour and a half, then go to a dance afterwards.
How do I make my makeup last longer?

No foundation no matter how high end will remain in place all day, especially on oily skin. You also need a good skincare routine to balance skin (let me know if you need one), a matifier (primers don’t keep you matte all day on their own), only oil free foundation with matte finish and a finishing powder.

I also have EXTREMELY oily skin. This is my foundation routine that keeps me matte all day when wearing a powder foundation and keeps Makeup remaining fresh as if its just been applied:

Desert Essence Thoroughly Clean oil control lotion, Boscia oil free daily hydration spf15 or pure aloe vera gel as mositurizer in morning. These are all matte finish while hydrating. They don’t overdry your skin as other matte moisturizers in drugstore do.

Next, apply Skindinavia No More Shine. This spray is a matifying miracle and will do a better job of keeping you matte than any primer will. its gentle enough for daily use and actually works unlike urban decay or every other setting/matifying spray that I’ve tried. btw never use hairspray on face, it doesn’t control your oil and it breaks you out. Worst advice to use hairspray.

Next you can apply concealer wherever you next it. Afterwards, apply your mineral foundation.

When you’re done with foundation, set it with a matte translucent finishing powder. I prefer jurlique rose/citrus silks and lumiere cosmetics veena velvet but I guess any will do with this routine as long as they’re matte.

Last, reapply Skindinavia No More Shine. You’ll remain matte, your foundation will remain fresh in place all day as if its just been applied.

Again let me know if you need full skincare routine. Congrats and good luck!
