what’s the difference between blushing very badly and rosacea?

Posted by: admin  :  Category: Rosacea

sometimes ill blush very bad and the situation wont even be embarassing…is this rosacea? i kinda doubt it is since i dont get any pus filled things (others have said they iare common for Rosacea)

You have rosacea, but apparently not so bad as to get pus-filled lesions. Sorry to say there’s little that can be done that can help that would not hurt you more than rosacea. Grin and bear and be one of us.

Hi. I am 15 years old. I’ve had Rosacea for a little while now. My dermatologist told me to use this aveno lotion and he said it would make the rash go away, instead my face broke out in itchy hives. Do you have any methods, ideas, lotions that you think I could use to help this problem? Thank you.

Interesting,, sometimes our body needs some help,, try some Vitamin B 12 it should clear it up

Anyone have a natural remedy for Rosacea that does not cost a lot?

Posted by: admin  :  Category: Rosacea

Rosacea makes my skin have red blotches and breaks out all the time. It looks horrible. Just need something to heal my face.

Try witch hazel.

It’s a mild astringent, but doesn’t dry out or irritate your skin. You can buy it at any pharmacy, grocery store, or Wal*Mart … it’s a buck and change, and you’ll find it in the first-aid section alongside rubbing alcohol and hydrogen peroxide.

Also, Ivory soap for washing your face, and aloe gel as a moisturizer if you need one.

What is a good medicine for Eczema and/or Rosacea?

Posted by: admin  :  Category: Rosacea

My brother has SEVERE Eczema on his entire body. Right now, his legs are completely covered in it. He has the huge, dry, cracked, bleeding sores everywhere.

I have severe Rosacea on my face.

I was wondering if anyone knows any really good, effective treatments/medicines for both of us. We have prescriptions and other medicines, but nothing works.
Help?

ok, i’m gonna assume you have tried prescription strength hydrocortisone. Have you tried a prescription gel like cream called protopic 0.1%? This seemed to help better for my eczema. I’m not sure if it is stronger, than anything else, but you can ask your doc. As far as over the counter products, go to walmart, cvs, or walgreens, and get a product called CeraVe, either the lotion or the cream. You can use it on your face and your entire body. I’ts the very best for sensitve, eczema/Rosacea dry skin. Also, try to detox, either 1 teaspoon of extra virgin olive oil a day, 2 teaspoons Braggs apple cider vinegar (found at health/natural food stores) with 8 ounces of water 2x a day, bentonite clay, or try oil pulling using expeller pressed sesame oil (google oil pulling). You don’t have to do all, but see which one may work for you. You could also give Dr. Bronner’s Castille soap a try, which may help to soothe inflammed eczema skin. I am most certain that this will help because I have tried many products and natural remedies and these have worked the best.

Acne – How to Succeed 3

Terminology

The term acne has its roots in the Greek language. Quite simply, it means a skin eruption. In fact, the name acne refers to the occurrence of:

Pustules, which relates to the accumulation of pus in the top layer of the skin, called the epidermis, or beneath the skin in the dermis, and

Papules, are similar to pustules, except that they do not contain pus.

Pustules and papules are both generally referred to as pimples.

The form of acne that is most common is that known as acne vulgaris, which means, quite simply, common acne. In fact, this is the form of acne that occurs most commonly amongst teenagers.

Associated with Acne vulgaris is the presence of comedones, otherwise known as blackheads. This is a yellowish or blackish lump on the skin’s surface. A blackhead is a type of acne vulgaris caused by the accumulation of excess oils in the duct of the sebaceous gland. These protrusions essentially consist of keratin and sebum, which is an oily secretion from the sebaceous gland that darkens, upon contact with the air, to leave the appearance of a lump of dirt.

The term acne Rosacea refers to the episode called rosacea, which produces red domed papules and pustules. This disorder can be easily confused with acne vulgaris. Further, it is possible for them both to co-exist.

Causes of Acne

When there are blockages in follicles, this can result in the formation of Acne.

Hyperkeratinisation is an abnormal condition of the cells lining the inside of a hair follicle, which is the part of the skin that grows hair by packing old cells together. It is the normal function of these cells to become separated from the skin lining at normal intervals. The dead cells are then squeezed out of the follicle as a result of the growing hair. However, in hyperkeratinization, this process is prevented from taking place and a number of these dead skin cells do not leave the follicle because of an excess of keratin, a natural protein found in the skin. This excess of keratin, which is associated with genetics, results in an increased adherence/bonding of dead skin cells together. This cohesion of cells will tend to either block the hair follicle, leading to keratosis pilaris, or clog the oily sebaceous glands, leading to acne.

Therefore, the earliest change relates to hyperkeratinization and formation of a plug of keratin and sebum, an oily substance produced by the sebaceous glands in the skin whose purpose is to lubricate the skin. Enlargement of the sebaceous glands and an increase in sebum production occur with increased androgen, which is a substance that controls the development of masculine characteristics, production at adrenarche, which is a process related to puberty and typically occurs between ages 6 and 10 years.

The microcomedo, or sebaceous gland, may increase in size to produce either an open comedo, otherwise called a blackhead, or a closed comedo, also known as a whitehead. Whiteheads are caused by skin pores being blocked by a combination of sebum, a naturally occurring oil, and dead skin cells. Under these conditions, inflammation can occur as a result of the commensal, which is a relationship between two organisms where one benefits and the other is not significantly harmed (like a bird living in a tree), bacteria Propionibacterium acnes, which is a slow growing bacterium that is linked to the skin condition acne.

Such inflammation can lead to inflammatory lesions, such as nodules, infected pustules and papules, which are represented by a solid elevation with no visible fluid, varying in size from a pinhead to 1cm. These lesions occur in the dermis, which is the layer below the outer layer of the skin, around the microcomedo or comedo, which causes redness and may result in scarring or hyperpigmentation, which is the darkening of the skin caused by increased melanin.

Are there any alternatives to medical treatment for rosacea?

Posted by: admin  :  Category: Rosacea

Recently I’ve begun having episodes of facial flushing and stinging on my cheeks and chin. The flushing goes away eventually (after a day or so) but I’m pretty sure it’s Rosacea, given my family history of the disease.

I really don’t want to take antibiotics long term and I’m not thrilled at long term use of any drugs so I’m looking for alternatives to manage this problem.

The antibiotic that is given is tetracycline in a low dose. I have been on it for at least 7 years. There are no side effects if you are an adult that I know of. In children it will turn their teeth yellow.

- Earth Science has an herbal tonic facial mist that is an oil-free moisturizer which is sprayed (misted) directly onto your face. If you store it in the fridge, it is very refreshing and helps cool and lower the skin temperature of the face immediately. Because it’s a mist, it can easily be applied before and/or after applying your make-up.

- There is a face cream called ROSACURE which is an anti-redness cream formulated for Rosacea-prone skin.
- Guinot has a face cream called Red Logic which claims to neutralize the appearance of red blood vessels.
- LaTherapie Paris has a fortifying skin cream that is supposed to help soften high colour (reduce redness)

Here are a few helpful, (and natural) hints for dealing with rosacea:
- avoid any products with alcohol (internally or externally)
- only use gentle, alcohol-free cleansers on your face
- avoid scented soaps and creams
- have a daily facial cleansing routine (2x daily, morning & night. Do not scrub as this will irritate the skin)
- try a dairy milk face-soak during a flare-up (as long as you’re not allergic) The dairy milk helps to balance the natural PH of the skin
- try using face lotion containing certified green algae (use lotion, not creams, as lotion is more gentle on the skin and absorbs more easily)
- avoid extended periods in direct sun (use sunblock with 15 – 30 spf)
- drink green tea, rose hip tea, and fennel tea (great antioxidants)
- eat foods high in anti-oxidants; such as blueberries, cranberries, purple grapes, broccoli, etc..
- avoid spicy foods and greasy foods
- find out what your own personal food "triggers" are and avoid them so you can avoid flare-ups of redness and acne. (many people find food with histamines aggravate the redness)
- avoid hot things. Hot showers & hot tubs, hot drinks (the heat will dilate blood vessels causing more redness)
- try to get at least 7 – 8 hours of sleep each night (aids in the healing processes of the body)
- try to cut down on stress (stress can magnify a multitude of conditions)

You can try increasing your omega 3’s by taking supplements such as Evening Primrose Oil. Fennel seeds, Flax seeds and Flax seed Oil supplements also act as anti-inflammatories. Some people have had success using Turmeric orally or topically.

Secret Ingredients Found in Effective Skincare Products

Posted by: admin  :  Category: Rosacea

In order to tell you about the most effective skincare products, I would like to begin with this information. Respected dermatologists recommend prevention, protection and individualized care.

So, effectiveness depends largely on buying something that targets your areas of concern. I’ve listed some common concerns here, along with solutions that address them.

Excessive Dryness and Cracking

First, for prevention, you have to avoid excessive exposure to the sun and chemicals that are drying to the skin; chlorine, alcohol based hand cleaners and antibacterial soaps, for example. Second, you need effective moisturizers; Functional Keratin, avocado oil, Shea butter and grape seed oil are examples.

Third, you need something that protects the skin from drying out to quickly. Grape seed oil does that because it has a “filming ability”. The film locks in moisture. Fourth, you need something that will “heal” cracked skin. Witch hazel extract is the best choice for that purpose.

The most effective skincare products for dry cracked skin contain all of these oils and extracts. They provide prevention, protection and individualized care for dry skin conditions.

Acne

Acne is accompanied by excessive sebum production. Some doctors recommend drugs to decrease sebum production. But, there are many side effects and the use of the drug can lead to excessive dryness.

Some professionals suggest strong cleansers that cause redness and further inflame infected areas. The best approach is gentle regular cleansing, two or three times a day. Occasionally a deep cleansing mask that contains extracts from clay will absorb excessive oils and pull dirt and grime out of the pores.

One of the most effective skincare products for treating acne contains Jojoba, because it reduces sebum production, without causing excessive dryness, and honey, because it has natural antibacterial activity that prevents infections and blemishes.

Rosacea, Sunburns and Irritations

Excessive redness, as is found in rosacea, sunburns, razor burns and similar irritations are often grouped with a condition called dermatitis, which is basically inflammation of the skin. To reduce excessive redness and even out skin tones, the best natural extract is nut grass root. Other measures can be taken to correct rosacea, but you’d have to contact a cosmetic surgeon. You might want to try the nut grass first.

To relieve sunburn, try capuacu butter made from a South American fruit, vitamin B5 and witch hazel extract. Honey effectively heals most skin irritations. Functional Keratin reduces inflammation.

Functional Keratin is one of the most effective skincare products for many conditions, because the protein is active. Other types of keratin are rendered inactive by the manufacturing process.

Anti-Aging

You need moisture to maintain or return elasticity, special extracts that prevent the loss of protein from the skin’s outer layers, protection against free radical damage and repair of damage that causes wrinkles and fine lines.

The most effective skincare products for anti-aging contain Functional Keratin, H-EQ10, grape seed extract and brown algae extract. Clinical studies have proven the effectiveness of each of these ingredients. The best anti-wrinkle cream contains them all. There’s a lot more that I could write about the subject, but that’s all I have time for in this article.
