How can a start-up get its skin care line in retail stores?

Posted by: admin  :  Category: Skin Care

I am in the research phase on how to get a start-up skin care line in traditional brick and mortal retail stores and have a few questions from people that have done this:
1) Do companies usually work directly with distributors or have independent road reps?
2) Are there any companies or agencies that people would recommend for either?
3) What is the percentage range that either generally earns?
4) What is normally used to "pitch" retailers (samples, lookbook of products, etc.)?

My best friend actually got her lotion and soap business into Rite-Aids. She set up her own personal website and did it from home for about 5 /6 years. When she got big enough she was featured on the local news and gave "samples" to the news people who then in turn raved about it. Rite-Aide saw, and contacted her. She got a lawyer and they hashed out financial crap. The only difference was that instead of making it at home, she had to use their facilities for FDA compliance/safety crap which took out of her net for each product BUT she was exposed to a lot more consumers so it all made up for itself.

Basically, you have to show that your products are worth stocking on their shelves before they are willing to do so, especially if you would be considered an "independent contractor" They aren’t going to do it and take up room on their shelves without a few years of sales proof and growth charts.

What is the difference between skin care and cosmetics, can they be categorized together?

Posted by: admin  :  Category: Skin Care

I wanna know if i can say that skin care products are the same as cosmetic products.

Cosmetics are more of a "cosmetic" approach to Beauty. Like making whats already their naturally, look even better.

Skin Care is the treatment of what is already given to us naturally, our skin, an then making it healthier.

Usually cosmetics has nothing to do with skin care but more with Beauty. So you’ll generally find skin care in a different category than cosmetics.

What other skin care brand is really good, doesn’t dry your skin out, and helpes look after your skin but prevents spots. Witch Stick is good but I haven’t found and entire collection. Any suggestions?

What job would let me create natural skin care products?

Posted by: admin  :  Category: Skin Care

I’m not sure if being a naturopathic dermatologist is what I would need to be. I’m interested in studying natural Skin Care and creating remedies for it. The people are Burt’s Bees, or Aubrey Organics, are they chemists? Dermatologists? What do I need to study to do this? Thanks!

If you are just looking to create skin care products, then anyone can do this in their basement or garage. Once you do your research on the ingredients, find a way to combine them and market them, you send your formulas to a pharmaceutical maker like http://www.youngpharm.com/ and work with them on finalizing development.

If you are looking to do this on a professional level with an established company, then a chemistry degree would be your first step. You may look at botany, biology, microbio, and organic chemistry heavy schooling as well.

What is a good skin care regimen for high amounts of sun exposure?

Posted by: admin  :  Category: Skin Care

I teach tennis six hours a day everyday except Sunday. I apply sunscreen before I go out (spf 30 or 50) and I wear a hat or visor. I am still getting sunburned on my neck and shoulders and my skin feels like it is not taking all of this sun so well. What can I add to make a good Skin Care regimen that fully protects my skin and prevents further damage? I am 23 with combination skin.

30 spf means it is 10 x 30 =300 minutes before burning . so when it expires as u think, reapply it. it also fade when there is water such as raining, sweating, swimming, etc.

How to make skin healthy or in simple words Skin care for men?

Posted by: admin  :  Category: Skin Care

My name is Anup. My skin has some balck spots, pimples and some old pimple marks. How could I get these off from my skin. I have heard about exfoliation and face fash etc, Please tell how to care of skin for men. If any joke comes like(rip your skin off and etc) please keep it for yourself. I really need help here. Please suggest products for men also(available in India)
If there are steps on how to do all this I would appreciate it

something thats good for men that is in a lot of the feminine products, and also if you don’t want to spend a whole ton, witch hazel and the proactiv green tea moisturizer.

Personally, (I’m a girl) use the clinique Acne 3 step system, its very gentle and works to clear everything up, but when I’m inbetween paychecks or can’t spend the 34$ on it, I wash my fash, use witch hazel on a cotton pad (like 4$ at a pharmacy). This dries your skin out though, so you have to moisturize. My absolute favorite moisturizer ever is the green tea on from Proactiv, it’s almost gel like, smells so clean, leaves your skin soft, but not over doing it. You can find them on ebay, I get two tubes for about 18$ (1 oz, will last you about 3-4 weeks each).

How do start a skin care routine for a guy?

Posted by: admin  :  Category: Skin Care

Okay, so i want to start a Skin Care routine!! In the shower I wash my face with soap, and scrub my face with a sponge. Then what should I do after? Should I use a cleanser first? then exfoliate? and finally moisturize? oh and ps i have like oily skin. please leave a list of unisex-products products I can use. Thank you all so much :)

Oh and really quick!! this is kindda important. is it okay to put body butters on your face?

Hi! Please avoid using soap on your face. It dries out the skin. You can try cleansing milk. It suits all skin type and gentle on skin.

Exfolaition should be done three times a week, maximum.

With toner, you can actually do away with it and proceed with applying moisturizer (water-based during summer and rich cream moisturizer during winter).

What skin care product is good for dry and oily skin?

Posted by: admin  :  Category: Skin Care

Can anyone suggest a Skin Care product that is effect in helping with dry and oily skin and also Acne? I’ve tried Shiseido and a Taiwanese brand Jusei Beauty but they don’t really work well. Not something too expensive though please. Something I could buy at like Target or Walmart would be the best. Thanks!

I have combination skin and the thing I’ve found that works best is witch hazel.

It’s not expensive, either, about $3 or $4 for a bottle. It smells kind of like honey while it is wet, then nothing once it’s dry.

It helps moisturize the dry areas and control the oily areas. I like it quite a bit, especially for the money, plus it is all natural.

What skin care brands do dermatologists recommend most?

Posted by: admin  :  Category: Skin Care

I’m looking for a new skin care regimen for my acne. I’m planning on going to the dermatologist in several months but I just want to know what brands doctors like and what brands they say to stay away from. Price is not really an issue so feel free to name any product.

When I have been, they have recommended Cetaphil but I don’t remember it working that great for me. But here are ones that did—

Here are some good acne kits that you can buy at the drugstore (if you can’t I listed where they are sold). I have used all of them in the past and can recommend them. They are usually around $15-25 and usually last for a month or so. A lot of times if you go on the brand’s website there is a $5 off coupon.
